Email to Cabeza Prieta RE allowing ORVs on refuge

Cabeza Prieta Wildlife RefugeCabeza Prieta Wildlife RefugeI have spent time at Cabeza Prieta since the early 90's and think allowing ATV's is a terrible idea. Most of Cabeza is Wilderness and inviting ORV's into the middle of a vast Wilderness (with little enforcement and an impossible enforcement situation) is just a bad and non-sensical decision.

There are no natural barriers to ORV's driving where-ever they desire. As we all know, and have experienced across the southwest, most ORVers have little respect for travel rules. There is little enforcement and an even smaller ability for enforcement across such a vast area. There already are way too many smuggler vehicles as well as Border Patrol vehicles doing terrible damage to an ecosystem that cannot handle it.

Lower Sonoran Desert soil and wildlife are very sensitive to disturbance. Vehicle tracks last decades, cause lost moisture (which kills plants), erodes soil (causing air pollution), and kills living soil, among a host of other problems.

Please reverse this terrible decision.
